No matter who you are, God has something for you to do. Something He’s designed you for and called you to, so that you can meet a need in this wold that nobody else can meet quite like you.
It’s your mission. Your purpose. The major direction your life is supposed to take and the answer to the eternal question, “Why am I here?”
Honestly, though, sometimes that can be difficult to identify. Sometimes it can take years of you listening to and trusting the voice of God as He leads you through life until you finally realize what you are designed to do.
But, what are you called to do today? What is God calling you to do while you’re honing in on the BIG call on your life?
In Paul’s first letter to the Corinthians, verse 9, he writes:
“God is faithful, through whom you were called into fellowship with His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.”
What are you called to do today? Fellowship with Jesus. Spend time with Him. Talk with Him. Discuss the things of life with Him. Be a friend to Him.
So many of us get so focused on the journey of finding or fulfilling our ultimate call, we forget our daily call — our first and highest call — which is to be in fellowship. It’s a heavy thought to wrap your mind around, but God simply is calling us to hang out with Him.
Think about it.
If you have kids, imagine if they spent all their time trying to please you, but never actually spent any time with you. They never wanted to talk with you, love on you, hang out with you or tell you anything about their lives. That’s not a healthy relationship between parent and child.
So, today, just hang out with God. Just talk with Him. Don’t get too spiritual or religious. Don’t just go to Him to get something. Just be you and let Him be Him and just fellowship for a while.
